The Golden Mile is the four-kilometre stretch of coastline running west from Marbella town centre toward Puerto Banús. The Marbella Club Hotel — opened in 1954 — set the original tone, and the corridor still hosts the most internationally recognised hotel and beach-club brands on the coast. Sierra Blanca, the gated mountain estate that climbs the foothills behind the Golden Mile, is the ultra-prime end of Marbella villa territory: large plots, architect-designed properties, near-zero turnover. Together these two adjoining sub-zones are the heart of "old-money" Marbella.

Sierra Blanca itself is overwhelmingly individual freehold villas — not subject to community-of-owners building votes. Long-stay luxury private rental dominates here over short-let — guest profiles tend longer (10–28 nights) and more selective. Some Golden Mile beachfront apartments perform strongly as short-let through summer; villas are typically managed as private rental rather than open-platform.
